Weekly Quote #20 ~ Piers Anthony

“Being terrified but going ahead

and doing what must be done

that's courage.

The one who feels no fear is

a fool, and the one

who lets fear rule him

is a coward.”

About: This is a weekly feature here in the old belfry. The quote is Piers Anthony's. The design, along with any flaws, is mine.

If you would like to suggest a quote (I prefer it be from a SFF author) let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can do. No promises though. If a quote is too big I may not be able to reproduce it in the space available. I do promise to try though!

  1. Another great quote! The fist part of the sentence is especially meaningful because it does not necessarily apply only to extraordinary circumstances, as the ones the heroes in books face: that's the kind of courage we have to summon every single day in our lives. We might not be *terrified*, as the quote goes, but scared, or tired, or hopeless, and yet we find the courage to go on...

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Yes, that is a good quote. Fear isn't necessarily bad, but being paralyzed by it usually is. {Smile}
